Daily Hampshire Gazette Talks to Jesse Hopkins About 'The Bulleteers' Concert Work

"Vintage 'toons get tuned up by the Superman Orchestra"

Excerpt: Hopkins, who has composed soundtracks for movies and video games, as well as concert music, said the eight-minute piece he created for the Superman cartoon, called "The Bulleteers," has a political bent, based on the fact that Superman is essentially a scary figure, wielding tremendous power.

"He's unstoppable, unknowable," said Hopkins. Departing from the traditional heroic melodies that herald the Man of Steel's appearance on the screen, Hopkins' Superman music tends to be dissonant, atonal and a little dark.
